Safari Park

Sleek, cool-eyed wolves
slinking through trees.
Intent on deer,
au afraid, on the other
side of the fence.

Lions, larger than imagined,
strong, muscled bodies,
staring with pent up energy.
Majestically pacing
the boundaries of their pen.

Bengal and White, these Tigers,
separated by fence and ditch,
prowl their edges of territory.
Matching each other,
step by step.

Predators, all,
viewing tourists
with cold, contemptuous stare:
captive, maybe.
Hunting instincts forgotten,
never.
